Terms of use

Crypto Attention collects headlines from the public feeds of news domains, gathers reprints of the same news into a single narrative, and counts which topics they cover and whether coverage is positive, neutral or negative.

Tone and topic are determined automatically by a language model, and reprints are gathered by comparing texts. Both make mistakes: a model can misread irony, and two different narratives can be merged into one. The figures are an estimate of what is being published, not a fact about the market.

The site is free and needs no sign-up. You may read it, link to it and quote its figures. If you publish Crypto Attention charts or data, name Crypto Attention as the source.

The API can be called without a key, under the limits of the free plan. A key gives a larger request budget and a deeper history. Current plans, limits and prices are listed on the Pricing page.

You create and revoke keys yourself in your account. A paid plan is bought for a fixed period (30 days) and paid in cryptocurrency through our payment provider OxaPay; the price in US dollars is shown before you pay. The plan starts once the provider confirms the payment on the network, and it does not renew by itself: when the period ends, the account returns to the free plan unless you pay again. Network fees and exchange-rate differences of the chosen coin are borne by the payer.

A key is issued to you or your team. Keep it secret and do not share it outside. If a key leaks, write to us and we will revoke it and issue a new one.

Limits are applied automatically: once a budget is spent the API answers with status 429 until the minute or the day is over. We may change limits and plans; we will tell holders of a paid plan in advance before changing it.

Every account has an invite link. A new account created through it gets a few days of the Pro plan, and the person who invited it earns bonus days when the new account first pays for a plan. The current terms and number of days are shown in your account.

Rewards are days of Crypto Attention service, not money: they cannot be exchanged, cashed out or transferred. Inviting yourself, creating accounts to collect rewards or otherwise abusing the programme is not allowed, and voids the rewards. We may change or end the programme; days already credited stay.

Do not get around the limits by using several addresses or keys to take more than your plan gives. Do not put load on the service that disrupts it, and do not try to reach the admin console or other people's keys.

Do not present Crypto Attention's data as your own or resell it as a dataset without our consent. Using it inside your own product is fine — that is what the API is for.

If these rules are broken we may restrict access from an address or revoke a key.

We show the headline, the domain, the publication time and a link to the original. A narrative's picture, when the publisher's feed has one, is shown as a small thumbnail that we fetch from the publisher's site once and serve ourselves. Article texts belong to their publishers: we read them only for the automatic assessment and do not publish them on the site or through the API.

We download articles only where robots.txt allows it, and no more often than once every two seconds per site, or less often if robots.txt asks for that.

If you represent a publication and do not want to be in Crypto Attention, write to us from an address on its domain. We will stop collecting your feed, take your headlines off the site and delete the stored texts of your articles.

The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that it will run without interruption, that the data will be complete, accurate or timely, or that any source will keep publishing. Feeds disappear and assessments can be wrong.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses, lost profits or lost data arising from using Crypto Attention or being unable to use it, including trading or investment decisions made with our data in mind. If you pay for a key, our liability in any case does not exceed what you paid us over the last three months.

We may change these terms. A new version takes effect from the date shown at the top of the page. We will email key holders in advance about material changes that affect paid keys. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the new version.
